BTN ANNOUNCES TV COVERAGE FOR WRESTLING FOR 2014-15 SEASON

Iowa is featured heavily.

Reese Strickland-USA TODAY Sports

BTN officially announced their TV coverage plans for the 2014-15 season yesterday and, unsurprisingly, Iowa figures in heavily to their plans.

Monday, December 29: Midlands Tournament (all day; BTN Plus)
Tuesday, December 30: Midlands Tournament finals (7 PM, BTN)

Friday, January 2: Iowa at Rutgers (7 PM, BTN)
Sunday, January 4: Iowa at Ohio State (1 PM, BTN Plus)
Friday, January 16: Illinois at Iowa (TBA, BTN Plus)
Friday, January 23: Northwestern at Iowa (7 PM, BTN Plus)
Friday, January 30: Iowa at Minnesota (6 PM, BTN)

Friday, February 6: Iowa at Maryland (6 PM, BTN Plus)
Sunday, February 8: Iowa at Penn State (12 PM, BTN)
Friday, February 13: Michigan at Iowa (6 PM, BTN Plus)
Saturday, February 21: Cliff Keen National Dual Semifinals at Iowa (3 PM, BTN)
Sunday, February 22: Cliff Keen National Dual Finals at Iowa (11:30 AM, BTN)

Saturday, March 7: Big Ten Tournament (TBA, BTN Plus)
Sunday, March 8: Big Ten Tournament finals (2 PM, BTN)

BTN Plus is the rebranded name of the Big Ten Digital Network; it's the additional BTN streaming service that you have to pay for.  More details here.

Iowa has three regular season dual meets on BTN, tied with Penn State and Minnesota for the most.  Two of Iowa's biggest dual meets (versus Minnesota and Penn State) will air on BTN.  The only real disappointment from this schedule is that Iowa's dual meet with Ohio State is on BTN Plus and not BTN.  The Buckeyes figure to be one of the top teams in the nation this year and a serious contender to Iowa, Minnesota, and Penn State, so it would have been nice to see that dual meet on the more widely available BTN.  In fact -- and these are words that are not often said -- Ohio State got a bit of a raw deal from BTN in terms of TV coverage.  Their only dual on BTN is against Michigan State, which figures to be a lopsided blowout.  Meanwhile, their dual meets with Iowa, Penn State, and Minnesota have all been relegated to BTN Plus.

The following duals do not currently have any announced TV plans:

Saturday, November 29: Iowa State at Iowa (7 PM)
Saturday, December 6: Michigan State at Iowa (7 PM)
Sunday, January 11: Iowa at Oklahoma State (2 PM)
Sunday, February 22: Virginia at Iowa (1 PM)

It's surprising (and disappointing) to see that Iowa-ISU and Iowa-MSU won't even be available on BTN Plus.  Iowa-Oklahoma State is in Stillwater this year so BTN has no rights to air that dual meet; I'd guess that there will be some sort of stream made available, though.
