IOWA VS MICHIGAN GAME THREAD -- LIVE ON TV

Finally, we get to watch Iowa baseball on BTN

@UIBaseball

The Iowa baseball team has been one of the best stories of this Big Ten baseball season (in our, uh, totally unbiased opinion, of course), but it's been difficult to watch them in action, thanks to a BTN schedule that's featured them very little (or not at all).  Well, today that finally changes -- game two of their series with Michigan is scheduled to air live on BTN at 3:30 PM CT.  Hooray!

Iowa won the first game of the series last night, 13-7, behind a strong offensive showing (and, uh, three Michigan errors).  LF Dan Potempa (4/6 with a double, a run scored, and 3 RBI) and DH Tyler Peyton (3/5 with a double, 3 runs scored, and 3 RBI) led the way for Iowa, but 3B Kris Goodamn (2/3), SS Nick Roscetti (2/4), and C Jimmy Frankos (2/4) all had multi-hit games for the Hawkeyes, too.  In total, Iowa hitters bashed 15 hits past the Wolverines and converted those into 13 runs, with most of the damage coming in a 9-run binge across the second, third, and fourth innings that gave Iowa a 9-4 lead they wouldn't relinquish.

Starter Blake Hickman (5-0), pitching a day earlier  than usual, had his first bad outing in Big Ten play, lasting just 2.1 innings and giving up 4 runs on 5 hits in just 2.1 innings of work.  Fortunately, Ryan Erickson replaced him well, giving up just 5 hits and 2 runs over 5.2 innings of work.  That was more than enough with Iowa's hitters doing plenty of work.

TODAY'S GAME: Iowa sends out their usual Friday starter, Tyler Peyton (5-3, 2.60 ERA), while Michigan counters with Ryan Nutoff (4-3, 3.03 ERA).  First pitch is scheduled for 3:30 PM and the game will be televised on BTN.

The usual open thread rules apply.
