One ISU down, one to go. And, yeah, this ISU game means just a little bit more than last week's. This is Iowa's first chance of the season to add a rivalry trophy to the currently-empty trophy case and it's a chance to keep the good vibes and positive momentum going from Iowa's solid season-opening win over the Redbirds. A loss here would undo all the gains Iowa made last week (and then some). So let's not do that, Iowa. Let's beat Iowa State. This has been a rough week as an Iowa fan -- let's end it on a high note.
Yes, this game is on FOX. That's FOX proper, as in FOX-the-network-that-airs-American-Idol-and-Empire. It's not Fox Sports 1, the cable-only sports channel. It's a little weird to see Iowa on FOX (although the last time an Iowa game aired on FOX, it was the 2010 Orange Bowl, so hey!), but that's because the game is in Ames (so Big XII TV contracts are in control) and because the rest of today's slate of CFB action is not the most exciting, shall we say.
And, yes, the game is scheduled to get underway at 3:45 PM Central, which is an unusual start time for a college football game. So it goes.
