Well, that was a nice break, wasn't it? Iowa got last week off to heal up and, as it turns out, move into the top ten of the rankings. That was fun. But it's time to get back to the grind this week. It's been two weeks since we last got to watch Iowa football and we're itching for more. This team is fun to watch and we can't wait to see what they do next.
Specifically "next" is a Halloween afternoon throwdown with one of the Big Ten's newest teams, Maryland. Iowa first got a taste of the Terps last fall on a trip to College Park. Iowa jumped out to an early lead, but they weren't able to hold that lead and the dropped a painful loss (the first of many, as it turned out) to the Terps. Getting a little revenge for that loss would be nice, but Iowa has bigger goals in mind for this season, too. Still, those goals depend on Iowa making sure that the wins keep rolling in -- so let's see them take care of business again today.
Maryland's offense has showed some spark after switching (back) to Perry Hills at QB and Hills will be a bigger running threat than any QB Iowa has seen so far this season. But Maryland's pass offense has been woeful (and very turnover-prone) and their defense has been poor against the pass and the run. This game sets up well for Iowa -- now they just need to go out and do it.
