We finally got confirmation of a long-festering rumor early Saturday morning: Redshirt freshman wide receiver Cameron Wilson has left the team and will transfer to another school (via Mas Casa):
UI release confirms that WR Cameron Wilson hasn't been on the team since early July, when he told KF he was transferring.

Wilson's departure has been all over the message boards, ever since someone claiming to be his mom posted that he had left the team on the Rivals board last week. Kirk Ferentz refused to comment on the situation at Big Ten Media Days, but the athletic department's hand was forced when Wilson was pulled over for driving under the influence in Iowa City last night. The picture above was taken after the arrest (Ed. note: That's probably not true).
Wilson was a three-star receiver recruit out of Dublin, Ohio, and figured to contribute this year at a position where the Hawkeyes desperately need some help. He caught 10 passes for 134 yards and a score in Iowa's spring game, but was absent from the depth chart both for that game and in July.
Iowa opens fall camp on Monday, August 5.
UPDATE: Via Jon Miller at Hawkeye Nation, the hilarious statement released by UI Athletics to explain why nobody had confirmed that the DUI guy left the team last month:
Here is release from Iowa which wanted to point out Wilson has been gone since July...as he just got a DUI pic.twitter.com/sEMhommH53
