OHIO STATE 34, IOWA 24: POST-GAME THREAD OF WEARY ACCEPTANCE

WELP

Andrew Weber-USA TODAY Sports

Ohio State had Braxton Miller and Carlos Hyde today; Iowa didn't.  Sometimes schemes matter, and sometimes it's about horses.  And Ohio State has horses that Iowa just couldn't match today.

We needed OSU's star players to not be spectacular; unfortunately, they were pretty damn great today and they didn't make nearly enough mistakes for Iowa to pull off the upset.  I mean, when Miller pulls off that ridiculous run on third and long and Hyde follows it up with that Tecmo Bowl-esque TD run... I'm not sure what you can say or do.  Does it suck?  Of course.  But they have great players and they made great plays.

Iowa's offense needed to be perfect and they weren't.  Iowa's defense needed to force a turnover and they couldn't.  It sucked.  But this was certainly a better performance (on offense, at least) than the Michigan State game.  That's something to build on.  On to Northwestern.

The usual rules apply; please don't be assholes to one another.
