ESPN lists Joly as an athlete (probably because he's done just about everything for his high school team; so far he's played quarterback, running back, slot receiver, safety, and cornerback for his high school team), but the other three services have him listed as a cornerback and that seems to be his best position.
At 5'11 and just 182 pounds, Joly's going to have to show he can stand up against the run before he sees significant time for Iowa. That could take years in theory, but the offer sheet -- Maryland knows talent in the D.C. suburbs, and James Franklin is no slouch in that area -- leaves the impression that Iowa might have gotten a steal. The time as a high school quarterback should also play to his advantage. Expect to see him right away.
