FROM SIOUX CITY TO ESTONIA: GESELL, WOODBURY CHOSEN TO PLAY OVERSEAS

Everyone must get Estonia'd...

Reese Strickland-USA TODAY Sports

A year ago, the entire Iowa hoops team made a trek overseas, playing several games in London and France as part of an NCAA-approved team trip.  The NCAA permits those excursions just once every four years, so the entire team isn't adding to their frequent flier mileage this summer -- but Adam Woodbury and Mike Gesell will.  Gesell and Woodbury were selected to be part of the team representing the United States at the 2014 Four Nations Cup in Estonia and Finland, August 4-7.  USA East Coast* will compete against teams from Estonia, Slovakia, and a French team at the Cup and will also play an exhibition game against the Finnish National Team before heading back to the United States.

* Look, Iowa is east of, um, the Rockies, okay?

Aside from Woodbury and Gesell, the other members of the team will include:

Tyrone Johnson (South Carolina), Sindarius Thornwell (South Carolina), Dusty Hannahs (Arkansas), BJ Johnson (Syracuse), John Monkam (Lycoming), Tyler Roberson (Syracuse), Damonte Dodd (Maryland), and Granville Gittens (Baruch).

Woodbury and Gesell are far from the first Iowa players to be making this trip to Estonia; in fact, this is the fourth straight year that at least one Hawkeye has been a part of the USA East Coast team at the Four Nations Cup.  Matt Gatens and Bryce Cartwright represented Iowa in 2011, Zach McCabe was a part of the team in 2012, and Jarrod Uthoff repped the Hawkeyes last season.

Best of luck to Woodbury, Gesell and the entire USA East Coast team.
