I don't think a win over an unranked opponent in a non-postseason tournament setting usually warrants the "Move Your Feet" treatment here, but we'll make an exception this time.
One, it's been three years since we beat Iowa State in basketball. (Two years since we beat them in any of the major men's sports, wrestling notwithstanding.)
Two, it's been a long couple of months to be a Hawkeye fan. This win felt good. Really, really good.
It was a fun (if sloppy) game, played at a zippy pace that would have made Johnny Orr and Tom Davis proud. (Todd Lickliter and Wayne Morgan were probably hyperventilating.) Iowa's freshmen came through in a big, big way (Clemmons, Woodbury, and Gesell combined for 34 points, 11 rebounds, and 11 assists) and Aaron White as the goddamn man (18 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists).
So yeah: that was fun. Let's enjoy this one.
