Thought you’d gotten rid of me, didn’t you? You thought because the regular season was over you I’d just take my watch guide and go home. Well wrong, buddy. If there’s college football to watch, there’s a College Football Watch Guide, and we’re back with a very special bowl season edition.
Things have been frantic since the end of championship week. Transfer Portal SZN is in full swing and if you’re reading this right now there is a good chance you’ve also entered the portal. I respect your decision. Assistant coaches are on the move, some moving on up to the head gigs at their new homes, although we still don’t know who will be filling Brian’s Tigerhawk-less hoodie next year.
Jayden Daniels won the Heisman but who cares because Tory Taylor won the Ray Guy and the Big Ten Punter of the Year awards. In fact a handful of Hawkeyes took home handsome hardware. Taylor and Cooper DeJean are Iowa’s latest unanimous consensus All-Americans. DeJean also won the Big Ten Defensive Back of the Year and Return Specialist of the Year awards. Phil Parker finally won the Broyles Award and a slew of Hawkeyes appeared in all-conference lists.
With a 10-3 record, the Iowa Hawkeyes will have to wait until the new year for their Citrus Bowl date with Tennessee. But this weekend we finally get our first slate of bowl games. Some people may say there are too many bowl games but you shouldn’t listen to those people. Just look at this glorious schedule for our first weekend.

Okay, so it’ll take a little time to ramp up to the headline games. I can’t say I’m dying to watch the Cricket Celebration Bowl featuring Howard and Florida A&M. But we only have a few weeks of college football left and for me every game left is precious and I will likely watch at least some of every game from now until January 8.
Grab a plate of Avocados From Mexico and a cup of Scooter’s coffee at the Famous Toastery (whatever that is), it’s officially bowl season.
