It’s finally that time again, folks! Iowa football is back! The 2021 season kicks off at 2:30 as your #18 Iowa Hawkeyes play host to the #17 Indiana Hoosiers. These teams haven’t faced off since 2018 and IU hasn’t won a game in Kinnick since 2007.
But this is not your father’s Indiana football program. The Hoosiers finished 2020 just outside the top-10 in the final College Football Playoff rankings despite losing their star QB Michael Penix, Jr. to an ACL tear ahead of their bowl loss. Now Penix is back and he’s surrounded by a number of weapons. The defense boasts a plethora of returning starters as well as a number of transfers in the two-deeps.
Will the Hawkeyes start slow in their return to fans in the stands at Kinnick? Or will the triumphant return of Hawkeye football leave Iowa fans joyous? It’s time to find out!
