We’re now just hours away from the first Iowa Hawkeye football game of 2021 as your 18th ranked Hawkeyes are set to host the #17 Indiana Hoosiers in a Big Ten and season opener in Kinnick Stadium.
The Hoosiers are fresh off a borderline top-10 season, but saw things fade a bit down the stretch as superstar QB Michael Penix, Jr. tore an ACL late in the year. Penix and a slew of other top performers are back in 2021 to improve on their impressive 2020 campaign.
For the Hawkeyes, there are question marks on both sides of the line, as well as out wide at receiver with a number of major contributors now playing on Sundays. Can the Hawkeyes youth come together to overcome the experience of the Hoosiers? Has Spencer Petras improved with the offseason? Is Phil Parker’s defense ready to handle a potent Indiana offensive attack? We’ll know soon enough.
