It is game day in Ames where Game Day is broadcasting live all morning for the second straight meeting between the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Iowa State Cyclones. This matchup, while the 68th all-time in the Cy-Hawk Series, is history in the making as both teams enter the matchup ranked in the top-10 nationally for the first time ever.
The #9 Cyclones are fresh off a 16-10 home win over the UNI Panthers while the #10 Hawkeyes are coming off an impressive 34-6 win over #17 Indiana in their home opener. Heading into week two, the focus will turn to which offense can get things going after both teams demonstrated defensive prowess in week one.
For Iowa, that’s a bit of a concern given starting QB Spencer Petras has never started a road game in front of a live crowd. For the Cyclones, the concerns stems not from starting QB Brock Purdy’s inexperience, but from the less than stellar performance in week one against an FCS opponent.
