The Iowa Hawkeyes women’s team gritted out a first round win in the Big Ten Tournament on Wednesday night as they ousted Purdue 83-72. The Hawkeyes shot miserably from beyond the arc, but got a huge night from Monika Czinano who put up a crazy 38 points on 16 of 18 shooting.
The win advances Iowa to the quarterfinals where they will now face off with 3rd seeded Rutgers. The Scarlet Knights finished the year 14-3 and riding a 9-game winning streak. That may have largely come against some fluff that sits below Iowa in the final standings, but hot is hot and Rutgers has been just that.
Can Czinano maintain her hot start to the tournament? Can Clark and the rest of Iowa’s perimeter threats get hot? Or will it be the Scarlet Knights who keep their hot streak going?
