Iowa Basketball Matchup First (Second) Look: Indiana

The Indiana Hoosiers may have broken the Hawkeyes. Can they turn things around in the rematch?

The Iowa Hawkeyes have been a legitimate funk since falling to Indiana the first time the two teams met in January. In that matchup, starting shooting guard CJ Fredrick departed with an injury and Iowa’s offense hasn’t looked the same since. Worse yet, in a loss to Ohio State on Thursday night, the Iowa defense again looked borderline incompetent. The Hawkeyes have now lost three of their last four games dating back to that initial IU matchup.

For their part, the Hoosiers haven’t exactly been on fire. They’ve also lost three of their last four, but played Illinois into overtime on Tuesday night and they have rest in their favor. While Iowa is being forced to play three games this week due to the COVID-19 issues at Michigan State, Indiana comes into Sunday’s matchup on four days of rest.

Here’s your first look at the Indiana Hoosers. For the second time.

Adjusted offense and defense metrics measure the points scored per 100 possessions, adjusted for quality of opponent, location and when it was played (more recent gets more weighting). Adjusted tempo is defined as total possessions divided by minutes, adjusted for schedule considering the preferred pace of each team.
