For the second time in six years, the Iowa Hawkeyes find themselves sitting at 6-0 entering week seven. But for the first time since 1985, this groups of Hawkeyes find themselves ranked #2 in the nation after taking down #4 Penn State a week ago.
Now a new challenge faces Iowa as they look to avoid a letdown game against our most hated rival: the Purdue Boilermakers. The Boilers are 3-1 against he Hawkeyes under current head coach Jeff Brohm. They come to Iowa City at 1-1 in the Big Ten and looking to pull themselves within half a game of Iowa in the Big Ten West standings.
For the Hawkeyes, a win today would put considerable distance between themselves and everyone else in the West except the Minnesota Gophers, who take on Nebraska at 11am on ESPN2. I loss from the Gophers combined with a win from the Hawkeyes would give Iowa a commanding 2.5-game lead in the West with five games remaining.
