It’s Week 4 of high school football and the majority of future Hawkeyes were on the field. Each week we will examine stats, future opponents, and highlight videos.
Note: Minnesota recently announced a reversal in a previous decision and will now play fall football. Practices are scheduled to begin September 28th.
Illinois still plans to play high school football in the spring.
Jeff Bowie, DE
Hometown: West Branch, IA (West Branch)
Height: 6’5”

Bowie finished with 1.5 tackles, 0.5 TFL and 0.5 sack as West Branch defeated Wilton 48-3. On the season, Bowie has 9 tackles, 4.5 TFL, and 1 sack.
The West Branch Bears (2-2) next game is at Maquoketa Valley (1-3).

Brody Brecht, WR
Hometown: Ankeny, IA (Ankeny)
Height: 6’4”

Ankeny dominated Council Bluffs Thomas Jefferson 68-0 this week. Brecht was just as dominate scoring each time he touched the ball. He had 2 receptions for 54 yards and 2 touchdowns as well as scoring on a 57 yard punt return. He returned another punt for a touchdown, but it was called back due to a penalty.
On the season Brecht has 12 catches, 178 yards, and 5 touchdowns. He has 1 interception on defense and a 57 yards punt return for a touchdown.
Next week Ankeny (3-1) plays at Valley (1-2).
Arland Bruce, WR
Hometown: Ankeny, IA (Ankeny) *Previously Olathe, KS (Olathe North)

The Iowa High School Athletic Association is still ruling Bruce ineligible following his move from Kansas. The Bruce family is appealing to decision and hoping to play as soon as possible. Bruce plans to be a spring enrollee at the University of Iowa.
Connor Colby, OL
Hometown: Cedar Rapids, IA (Kennedy)

Cedar Rapids Kennedy (1-1) did not play this week. They will be at Dubuque Hempstead this Friday.
Cooper DeJean, ATH
Hometown: Ida Grove, IA (OABCIG)
Height: 6’2”

It was another huge performance as DeJean dominated all facets of the game as OABCIG beat East Sac County 55-7. He finished with 263 yards passing and 4 touchdowns on 8 of 13 passes. He also scored a touchdown on one of his 4 carries that totaled 81 yards, and had 4 tackles on defense. DeJean scored on a 95 yard kick return as well.
DeJean’s season totals are 62/113 for 1284 yards, 12 touchdowns, and 3 interceptions. He also has 41 carries for 304 yards and 7 touchdowns. Defensively he leads the Falcons with 22.5 tackles (20 are solo).
On Friday OABCIG (4-0) will be at MVAOCOU (0-4).
Jaden Harrell, LB
Hometown: Urbandale, IA (Urbandale)
Height: 6’2”

Urbandale scored the final 10 points of the game to pull out a 28-27 victory over Indianola. Harrell carried the ball 11 times for 59 yards and a touchdown. He also had 19 yards on 1 receptions. Defensively he recorded 8 tackles and 1 TFL
Through 4 games Harrell has 36 carries for 282 yards and 4 touchdowns. He’s secured 5 catches for 32 yards out of the backfield. The future linebacker totals 23.5 tackles and 1.5 TFL on defense. Harrell contributes to special teams as well as Urbandale’s punter.
In Week 5, the the J-Hawks (4-0) play Fort Dodge (3-1).
Keagan Johnson, WR
Hometown: Bellevue, NE (Bellevue West)
Height: 6’1”
Weight: 188

Bellevue West took down Millard South (3-1) 49-29 and Johnson had another big night. The standout wide receiver hauled in 7 receptions for 125 yards and 2 touchdowns. He was also a threat on the ground carrying the ball carrying the ball 7 times for 80 yards and a touchdown out of the Wildcat position. Johnson wasn’t done there as he was 1-2 passing on 2-point conversion attempts.
On the season Johnson has 11 receptions for 180 yards and 3 touchdowns. Bellevue West (2-0) is scheduled to take on Kearney (0-2) this week.
Joey Labas, QB
Hometown: Broadview Heights, OH (Brecksville-Broadview Heights)
Height: 6’3”
Weight: 190

Brecksville-Broadview Heights improved to 3-1 on the season following their 45-31 win over Barberton. Despite the win, Labas numbers were down a little as he went 12-23 for 165 yards and 1 touchdown. He threw his first two interceptions of the season.
Labas has totaled 960 yards and 6 touchdowns on 68-109 passing.
Brecksville-Broadview Heights (3-1) will travel to face Stow-Munroe Falls next week.
Griffin Liddle, DT
Hometown: Bettendorf, IA (Bettendorf)
Height: 6’3”

Bettendorf picked up their second win of the season defeating Davenport North 21-0 for their second straight shutout. Liddle had 4 tackles and 2 TFL.
His season totals are 11.5 tackles with 6.5 TFL.
Bettendorf (2-1) plays again on Friday hosting Pleasant Valley (4-0).
Max Llewellyn, DE
Hometown: Urbandale, IA (Urbandale)
Height: 6’5”
Weight: 230

Llewellyn had 3 receptions on offense for 32.. On defense Llewellyn had 1.5 tackles. Most importantly, he blocked an extra point as Urbandale completed the comeback and 1 point win.
Llewellyn now has 11 catches for 260 yards and 2 touchdown on offense to go along with his 11 tackles, 6.5 TFL, and 2 sacks on defense.
Jordan Oladokun, DB
Hometown: Tampa, FL (Gaither)
Height: 5’11”

Gaither moved to 2-0 by beating Tampa Bay Tech 34-14. Once again, Oladokun did it all with 5 receptions for 78 yards and a touchdown. Locking down his position, the Gaither defense slowed down the dangerous Tampa Bay Tech offense. Oladokun had a 23 yard punt return as well.
Gaither (2-0) is off this week, but will return to action October 2nd at Fivay (0-1).
Beau Stephens, OL
Hometown: Blue Springs, MO (Blue Springs)
Height: 6’6”

Stephens and the Blue Springs earned their second straight victory defeating Park Hill 24-21.
Blue Springs (2-2) will face Liberty North this week.

Zach Twedt, ATH

Last week, Twedt dislocated his shoulder ending his season. Without him Roland-Story fell to 0-4 following their loss to West Marshall, 13-60.
Twedt finished the season with 29 carries for 103 yards and 2 receptions for 3 yards on offense. He ended up recording 14 tackles on defense.
Roland-Story (0-4) plays Iowa Falls-Aiden (3-1) next week.
