The countdown continues with a walk-on freshman.

Sean Ormiston, Freshman
Lena, IL (Lena-Winslow)
6’0”, 220 lbs
2020 Projection: Reserve linebacker

The freshman chose Iowa over Eastern Illinois and Wisconsin-Whitewater to join Iowa’s 2020 class. At the time, he told HawkeyeReport, “I thought this was the best place for me to become the best athlete and student.” His high school teammates include fellow #Swarm20er Isaiah Bruce.

At Lena-Winslow, he became the conference career leader in rushing yards and rushing touchdowns on his way to being a 2019 all-state selection in Illinois.

While he doesn’t have breakaway speed, his game is built on power and just enough wiggle to rack up yardage. While his defensive highlights are sparse, he shows solid instincts in coverage.

Though he’s listed at linebacker and may well make his way onto the field that way, he looks like a future Hawkeye fullback. Some of his reel includes situations where he is blocking and he does not shy away from contact.

Welcome to the Hawks!
