Division 1 Men and Women’s Basketball Season to start Nov. 25

LET’S GO!

NCAA Basketball: Ohio State at Iowa Jeffrey Becker-USA TODAY Sports

Mere hours after the Big Ten announced it would return in October to play an eight game schedule, the NCAA announced that Division 1 Men and Women’s Basketball would begin their seasons on November 25.

Obviously, there are still a lot of unknowns out there, but at least we have a date. Will there be fans? Probably not. Will the season be shortened, like football? Unclear. Will we even make it through the season? Who knows!

All I know for sure is that, as of today, Luka Garza has November 25th circled on his calendar to suit up in the black and gold with the highest expectations maybe in program history on his shoulders.

Sharing the court with him and his teammates will be Lisa Bluder’s bunch, who were upset early in last year’s Big Ten Tournament before the NCAA Tournament was cancelled, leaving a lot more questions on the floor than answers.

Both teams will bring a lot of talent back to Carver-Hawkeye Arena, and it’s safe to say it will be a great season for both, complications due to COVID-19 or injuries, notwithstanding.

Rest easy, Hawk fans. Times continue to be tough, but at least we have some Hawkeye basketball to look forward to. And that is a glorious thing.

Go Hawks!
