55 (?) Days Until Iowa Football: Yahweh Jeudy

A big name for a big guy

Anyone else take Quest for Human Destiny with Jay Holstein at Iowa? If you did, you know why I’m asking.

Yahweh Jeudy — RS FR
Pompano Beach, FL (Cardinal Gibbons)
6’0’’, 225 lbs
2020 Projection: Reserve Linebacker

Jeudy was one of the better stories to come out of 2019’s recruiting class. A longtime Kansas State commit, Jeudy flipped to the Hawkeyes the night before signing day, inking his name to the Black and Gold less than 24 hours after verbally committing.

Now a year into the program, Jeudy’s lane to playing time may have widened after the departure of Dillon Doyle. Jeudy projected as an outside linebacker upon recruitment, but things change, y’know?

Before spending the 2019 season on the bench in Iowa City, Jeudy was an incredibly decorated player in a football-crazed state. First team all-state honors capped a season where he notched 122 tackles and led his team to a state championship.

Right now, it seems like Nick Niemann, Jack Campbell and Djimon Colbert are plugging up the linebacker holes, and that’s even one name too many when Iowa leans on the cash formation. After those three, there’s Barrington Wade and Seth Benson, so I guess the linebacker room is slightly crowded.

Still, Jeudy has the pedigree, the size—and the name—to see some time, when the time comes.
