With the powers that be officially cancelling Christmas and the NCAA Tournament, we’re taking matters into our own hands. This will not stand, you know, this aggression will not stand, man!
So we’re running our own damn tournament. Using the final bracketology put together by ESPN’s Joe Lunardi, we’ve released a 2020 NCAA Tournament bracket. Winners of each game are voted on by you, the people. The results will be posted along a similar timeline to what would have been the original tournament. The schedule is as follows:
Sunday March 15: First Four
Monday March 16: Midwest Region
Tuesday March 17: East Region
Wednesday March 18: West Region
Thursday March 19: South Region
Friday March 20: Recap special (cancelled due to coronavirus)
Monday March 23: Round of 32 for Midwest and East
Tuesday March 24: Round of 32 for West and South
Wednesday March 25: Sweet 16 for Midwest and East
Thursday March 26: Sweet 16 for West and South
Friday March 27: Recap Special
Monday March 30: Elite 8
Tuesday March 31: Final Four
Wednesday April 1: The Finals
Thursday April 2: Champion is crowned/One Shining Social Media Moment
Alright folks, another day, another set of simulated tournament games. And by simulated, we of course mean games you the fans have voted on. And not some broader fanbase which might be dumb enough to declare Oregon a winner over Iowa in the round of 32, but you the Hawkeye fans. This week, you’re voting on a trip to the virtual Elite Eight and yesterday you had a chance to both exact some revenge and make some history. You did both.
Here’s a look at yesterday’s results:
- #1 Kansas defeated #4 Wisconsin 84-42
- #6 Iowa demolished #2 Kentucky 115-17
- #4 Maryland throttled #1 Dayton 111-14
- #2 Florida State edged out #6 Penn State 65-59
If only Kansas and Wisconsin could have both lost. Hey, would you all object if we just say they did both lose and neither advances?
Elsewhere, LOOK AT THE HAWKEYES JUST BOATRACING EVERYONE! We’re headed to the Elite 8 baby!
Also, suck it Dayton! Obi Wan Kenobi was your only hope and he wasn’t good enough to get past a Maryland team that Iowa absolutely demolished earlier this year. Maybe he was just lucky to get a spot on a D1 roster. Meanwhile, those McCaffery kids you’re so #madonline about were both top-100 prospects at one point and they’re playing in the Elite 8.
And finally, sorry, not sorry Penn State. You guys are the worst.
On to tonight’s action. We’re rounding out the Elite 8 with some more quality matchups. Vote early and vote often!
