With the powers that be officially cancelling Christmas and the NCAA Tournament, we’re taking matters into our own hands. This will not stand, you know, this aggression will not stand, man!
So we’re running our own damn tournament. Using the final bracketology put together by ESPN’s Joe Lunardi, we’ve released a 2020 NCAA Tournament bracket. Winners of each game are voted on by you, the people. The results will be posted along a similar timeline to what would have been the original tournament. The schedule is as follows:
Sunday March 15: First Four
Monday March 16: Midwest Region
Tuesday March 17: East Region
Wednesday March 18: West Region
Thursday March 19: South Region
Friday March 20: Recap special
Monday March 23: Round of 32 for Midwest and East
Tuesday March 24: Round of 32 for West and South
Wednesday March 25: Sweet 16 for Midwest and East
Thursday March 26: Sweet 16 for Midwest and East
Friday March 27: Recap Special
Monday March 30: Elite 8
Tuesday March 31: Final Four
Wednesday April 1: The Finals
Thursday April 2: Champion is crowned/One Shining Social Media Moment
The BHGP NCAA Tournament rolls on this week, as we’ve finally hit the Round of 32. There haven’t been too many upsets up to this point, but I expect things will start to get weird moving forward as the matchups get jucier and the perfect Big Ten Conference run into each other yet again.
But before we get to that, let’s take a look at the final results from Thursday’s South Regional games:
- #1 Baylor smokes #16 Winthrop 156-4
- #9 Rutgers runs past #8 Saint Mary’s, 125-37
- #5 Ohio State continues an amazing Big Ten run over #12 Stephen F. Austin, 130-32
- #4 Louisville comes up big against #13 Vermont, 127-35
- #11 Cincinnati hits a buzzer beater against #6 Virginia, 81-80
- #3 Michigan State stomps #14 Bradley, 155-7
- #7 Illinois plays as if they are against Iowa, outlasting #10 USC 136-26
- #2 Creighton takes care of business against #15 Little Rock 155-7
Now, if I do say so myself, this is my personal favorite side of the bracket. Not only will we get the opportunity to see Iowa smash the floor slappers for what will surely be the biggest #3 vs. #6 seed upset of all time. On top of that, we get the battle for Philadelphia with the Main Liners taking on Penn State, Auburn and Wisconsin (which is like watching a Ferrari race a moped), Dayton playing their first real test of the entire season and, of course, Maryland having to take on one of the most fundamental teams in the Big East and country.
Buckle up my people. The coronavirus isn’t the only thing rolling on.
Go Hawks!
