It was a lot more chalk in the East Region. Will we get to upset city in the West Region?

With the powers that be officially cancelling Christmas and the NCAA Tournament, we’re taking matters into our own hands. This will not stand, you know, this aggression will not stand, man!

So we’re running our own damn tournament. Using the final bracketology put together by ESPN’s Joe Lunardi, we’ve released a 2020 NCAA Tournament bracket. Winners of each game are voted on by you, the people. The results will be posted along a similar timeline to what would have been the original tournament. The schedule is as follows:

Sunday March 15: First Four
Monday March 16: Midwest Region
Tuesday March 17: East Region
Wednesday March 18: West Region
Thursday March 19: South Region
Friday March 20: Recap special
Monday March 23: Round of 32 for Midwest and East
Tuesday March 24: Round of 32 for West and South
Wednesday March 25: Sweet 16 for Midwest and East
Thursday March 26: Sweet 16 for Midwest and East
Friday March 27: Recap Special
Monday March 30: Elite 8
Tuesday March 31: Final Four
Wednesday April 1: The Finals
Thursday April 2: Champion is crowned/One Shining Social Media Moment

Happy Wednesday everyone, in case you’ve lost track of the days of the week thanks to never leaving your house. If it feels like you’re going mad, don’t worry - it’s just March Madness!

I’m sorry. I can’t help myself. I’m going to lose my mind if I can’t get some real sports back soon. In the meantime, we’ve got results from the mythical East Region to share from yesterday and let me tell you, you guys are taking this far too seriously.

It was another chalky day in BHGP tournament land yesterday. We did get 2 “upsets”, but they were pretty close in seeds. It was a bit of a defensive showing with fewer points/votes being scored. Either you guys are bored with this or the virus is impacting your abilities to vote in VERY SERIOUS AND IMPORTANT polls.

Anywho, here’s a rundown of the day’s results:

  • #1 Dayton demolished #16 Robert Morris 229-28
  • #9 Florida upset #8 Colorado 134-97
  • #5 Butler handled #12 Richmond 150-85
  • #4 Maryland throttled #13 Akron 226-8
  • #6 PSU took down #11 North Carolina State 176-63
  • #3 Villanove beat #14 Hofstra 230-24
  • #10 Utah State upset #7 West Virginia 193-136
  • #2 Florida State beat #15 Northern Kentucky 289-30

Moving on to the Wast Region, we’ve got some interesting matchups that should hopefully spur a few more upsets. I’m also a fan of the points (votes) so maybe go ahead and encourage your friends to get out the vote. Or find a way to hack the system and vote more. Whatever. This is Iowa, we aren’t here for defense people!
