The first big test of the 2020-2021 basketball season is officially here for the Iowa Hawkeyes. After cruising to wins in each of their first three matchups, Iowa will now play host to the #16 North Carolina Tar Heels as part of the Big Ten/ACC Challenge. The Tar Heels come into the matchup fresh off their first loss of the season after falling to the Texas Longhorns just under a week ago.
Iowa enters the matchup favored and ranked higher, a rarity given the cache of a name brand like North Carolina. But this will be the first ranked opponent the Hawkeyes face on the young season and a particular challenge given the strength of the Tar Heel frontcourt. That challenge grows if UNC star Garrison Brooks is able to go after suffering an ankle sprain in their last outing.
As we start the countdown to tipoff, here’s everything you need to know about today’s matchup.
