Things weren’t looking great for the Hawks last night against rival Iowa State. Coach Bluder’s squad was down 18 points to the Cyclones. It had a little of the Mudville 9 vibe going, but Mighty Caitlin didn’t strike out. Instead, she buried a three.
Good morning. It’s a Hawkeye State.

Game. Set. Match. Caitlin Clark finished the day with 34 points, 7 rebounds, and 6 assists. She has an exceptionally quick release on her jump shot. She also has a confidence that is off the charts. Other notables for the Hawkeyes: McKenna Warnock had 17 points and 7 rebounds, Monika Czinano (16/4), and Kate Martin (8/5). Iowa State’s Ashley Joens had 35 and 13 in a losing effort.
4th Quarter
At the start of the final period Iowa State was up 73-56. From that point on the Hawkeyes shot 6-9 from 3 (66.7%) while the Cyclones went 1-8 from deep (12.5%). That was the difference.
On to Michigan State
The Hawkeyes travel to Michigan State for a Saturday game (12/12). Iowa remains undefeated after upending ranked Iowa State. This Hawkeye team starts 1 first year player, 3 sophomores, and 1 junior. Big things at the moment for this team, and bigger things on the horizon.
More TV, Please
I would like to see more televised women’s games. These kids can play and it’s entertaining, quality basketball.
