Ahron Ulis
Guard, 6’3”, 190 lbs
Freshman, Chicago, IL (Marian Catholic)
Ahron Ulis is, as of this point, most known for being the younger brother of Iowa target and former Kentucky Wildcat, Tyler Ulis. While he doesn’t have the recruiting pedigree of his elder brother, he is among the biggest risers throughout his senior year of high school.
While he’s not the speedster Tyler was, he does show much of the passing he did throughout his high school years. Ahron is a stronger shooter from distance and possesses an ability to get into the lane in addition to his bigger frame.
Where he stands as it pertains to this iteration of the Hawkeye team is a little unclear, considering the depth Iowa now possesses at the guard spots. With Jordan Bohannon, Connor McCaffery, and Joe Toussaint presumably ahead of him as point guards, he is unlikely to break through. However he has enough off ball skills and could make an impact with his defense to find a hyper specific role on this team before elevating as players graduate.
Irrespective of what his 2020-21 looks like, Ulis is a intriguing player for Fran to build the backcourt of the future around.
