Obviously the committee was impressed by Iowa’s three game win-streak over conference behemoths Michigan State, Minnesota, and Penn State.
Unfortunately for Iowa, its more or less run out of road to climb to a ranking of serious consequence. The cancellation of Paul Bunyan’s Axe earlier today seals the deal for Northwestern in the West, while Indiana and the loser of Ohio State-Northwestern will likely earn whatever the equivalent of a New Year’s six bowl is this year.
So thanks, Gary Barta, for Iowa’s first ranking of the year.
