With no fans in the stands for Big Ten games, at least to start the season, a review of the weekly weather forecast has less and less to do with impacts for fans (either in the stands, tailgating or on the road to games), but there are still potential impacts for the game itself.

As Iowa prepares to travel to West Lafayette to take on our most hated rival, the Purdue Boilermakers, they started the practice week with several inches of snow in Iowa City. Yes, really. Looking ahead to Saturday’s forecast inside Ross Ade Stadium, things look much better.

As you can see, it looks to be much warmer with temps in the mid-50s throughout the afternoon for a 2:30 pm CT kick. There is a 50%+ chance at some rain, which could impact both teams’ ability to throw the ball a bit, but winds are expected to be pretty mild.

In terms of a game line, this one opened up at Iowa -9.5 at Elite Sports Book in eastern Iowa. That fell to -8.5 when Rondale Moore announced his return to the Boilermakers. Elite now has Iowa at -3.5 with no over/under currently available.

You can get the same line on SportBetting.ag as well with an over/under currently set at 54.5. The MGM has the line at Iowa -3 with the same over/under. We’ll see if there’s any movement there as we continue to get more information on injuries and depth charts for each team throughout the week.

Stay tuned in the Purdue Game Center for updates as game day approaches.
