After a hot start to the season that almost nobody saw coming, the Hawkeyes have stumbled of late, losing their last two against Penn State and Nebraska. The fall off has been in no small part due to the injury and illness bug that’s bitten Iowa as hard as you could possibly expect.
That won’t change tonight as Iowa remains without three of their opening day starters and one of their top bench players. Making matters worse, the reeling Hawkeyes are hosting the #12 team in the country in the Maryland Terrapins, who are riding a three-game winning streak. Naturally, it’s an early tip in Iowa City with a winter storm slated to roll through eastern Iowa leading up to game time so the Carver crowd is sure to be in its truest form.
Can Iowa overcome all the basketball gods have stacked in front of them? Can someone in a Hawkeye jersey knock down an outside shot? We’re about to find out.
