Starting safety Kaevon Merriweather has been ruled out of the Iowa-Rutgers game with a minor foot injury.
Just crossed paths with Kaevon Merriweather in the elevator at Kinnick. He said he’s out at least a week with a right foot injury. He was injured in practice on Friday. But relieved he doesn’t need surgery.

Walk-on Jack Koerner is expected to take his place in the defensive backfield.
Merriweather earned his first start of his young Hawkeye career last week against Miami Lesser. He played ... alright, but there were flashes of a playmaker in his game.
Best of luck to Merriweather as he recovers, and Koerner as he gets his first start of his career.
