Iowa jumped out to a 3-0 start this season as they won the James Madison Tournament and were heading home to play in the Big 10 vs. Pac 10 tournament hoping to keep that momentum. Unfortunately the home cooking didn’t sit right with the Hawkeyes as they lost both matches to the west coast teams to fall to 3-2 on the season.
Against Colorado, Iowa lost in straight sets 22-25, 20-25, 23-25. Then against a ranked Washington team, Iowa lost in a close, four set match 31-33, 23-25, 25-20, 23-25. The good news is Iowa is showing that they are competitive even against the ranked teams which should be useful once the Big Ten season starts on September 27.
There are currently seven Big Ten teams ranked in the AVCA Top 25.
