Back-to-back long snappers! What a world!

2019 Projection: Reserve long snapper

Austin Spiewak walked on to the Iowa program in 2016, as he followed in his grandfather’s footsteps of playing for the Hawkeyes. Gary Grouwinkel suited up in the black and gold in the late 50s, participating in the 1957 and 1959 Rose Bowls.

Spiewak was nationally ranked as a long snapper by Kohl’s and earned second place in their Midwest Showcase after his senior season. This followed a top 10 finish in 2015. In high school, he played center and linebacker in addition to his long snapping duties.

With two seniors ahead of him on the depth chart, the 2020 season will be his time to shine. Until then, snapping practice tape!
