So Kirk Ferentz earned a commitment from a freshman last night!
As we reported earlier, Class of 2022 in-state DE Aaron Graves (6-4, 230) has committed to the Iowa Hawkeyes. Last year, as a freshman, Graves had 67 tackles, 15 TFL, and 11 sacks at Southeast Valley. He is Iowa's first 2022 commit.

As of this writing, Aaron Graves projects as a defensive end. But a lot can happen in three years! Maybe he turns into a receiver, maybe he’s got a hand cannon and is Iowa’s QB of the future, nobody knows, because, again, this guy is 16. He plays for Southeast Valley High School in Gowrie.
He looks good on the tape, though!
Graves is yet ANOTHER success story Iowa had this past weekend at Kirk’s First Annual Crootin’ Extravaganza, as he earned an offer after attending the camp. Apparently, Iowa’s Reese Morgan and Levar Woods were onto him early, and after finally seeing him in person, the Hawkeyes offered, and he accepted.
It’s gonna be awhile until we see him on the field, but I’m looking forward to it!
Welcome aboard, Mr. Graves!
Let’s start thinking of cool nicknames for him like Gravesdigger and The Mortician or Country Gravesy.
