The 2019 NBA Draft has come and gone. While we all knew Tyler Cook was a long shot to be drafted, he was an incredibly talented player. He brought strength and athleticism to the Hawkeyes in a way few others have.
Despite being undrafted, Cook’s NBA chances aren’t dead. There will be a flurry of free agent signings over the next several days and Cook is almost a lock to get an invite to the NBA’s summer league. It remains unlikely he makes an NBA roster without some improvement in a few key areas, but he’s sure to be a lot of fun to watch wherever he lands.
In appreciation of Cook’s time at Iowa, here’s a look back at 7 monster dunks from the St. Louis native.
7. LOLinois
Illinois has a lot of things. Athletes? Yes. Defense? No.
6. Chicago (is not a) State
At least these kids can say they got dunked on by a guy who left early for the NBA?
5. Louder So They Can Hear You in the Back
I-L-L! I-N-I!
Play.
No.
D.
4. Tyler, That Guy Has a Family
RIP, my dude
3. Have a Seton Hall
This was an early sign Tyler Cook was going to be appointment TV.
2. One and One Makes Two
If Cook had a consistent outside jumper, this seems like it would be a nightly thing at the next level.
1. Wait, What?
Speaking of skills that could get you to the next level, if Cook could consistently handle the ball like this, he would be making big time money. When he did, it was a thing of beauty.
BONUS: F@#& Wisconsin
That is all.
Farewell Mr. Cook. You’ll be greatly missed. Best of luck on your journey to catch on at the next level.
