Iowa Wrestling: Big Ten Tournament Session III & FINALS How to watch and Match Thread

After a disastrous first session, Iowa rebounded nicely in session II and now sits in 4th place behind PSU, OSU, and NEB (of all teams).

We pushed four guys into the semis with two of them coming up big. Lee beat Sean Russell (Minn) 8-0 and Alex Marinelli took down Evan Wick (Wis) for the 3rd time this year, 2-1. Austin DeSanto lost a very, very heated battle with Nick Suriano (RU), 6-3 and Jacob Warner dropped a hard fought match to Kollin Moore (OSU), 5-2.

FINALS MATCHES:

• #2 Spencer Lee vs #1 Sebastian Rivera (NW)
• #2 Alex Marinelli vs #1 Vincenzo Joseph (PSU)

So with Lee and Bull waiting in the finals that leaves us with technically seven guys still alive in the consolation rounds.

• DeSanto vs Roman Bravo-Young (PSU) winner goes for 3rd.
• Murin vs Mikey Carr (Ill) for 7th. Carr has been sliding hard.
• Lugo vs Thorn (Minn) winner goes for 3rd. Lugo wins this he guarantees a spot in the NCAAs
• Young vs Bleise (Minn) Winner goes for 3rd
• Wilcke vs Venz (Neb) winner goes for 3rd
• Warner vs Brunner. Winner goes for 3rd. Needs a win to book his ticket to NCAA’s.
• AND Mitch Bowman isn’t done. He’ll wrestle for 9th place for consideration for an at-large bid. Idk how he’s standings and RPI holds up, but my guess is, not well. Either way, he has one more chance to go out on his terms.

Unfortunately, Sam Stoll’s career has ended tonight. His knees, his mobility, and his offense just weren’t there when he needed them. It’s tough to see him go out like this, but Sam, we thank you for your service.
