The Pants Party: The gang fantasy drafts Kirk Ferentz Era players, Part 1

The pod is back and we’re kicking season two off with a bang.

Folks, The Pants Party is back, and to kick off the second season of the podcast, we’re having some fun in honor of Kirk Ferentz’s 20th season at The University of Iowa. That’s right - in case you hadn’t figured it out yet, four of us are fantasy drafting players from the Kirk Ferentz era.

The ground rules:

  • A serpentine style draft! We pick one to four, and then circle back four to one, and bounce back and forth until the picks are done.
  • 11 on offense, 11 on defense, a punter (this is an Iowa blog, after all), and a kicker.
  • On offense, you get a QB, RB, WR, TE, your five linemen, and two flex positions. Defense, you can do whatever you want, but let’s be real - this is Iowa, and a 4-3 defense should be expected.
  • While pro careers are good extra notes, they don’t mean anything in this draft - what they did at Iowa is king, whether they did it for four years or one year.

Jerry, JPinIC, Harrison, and I get the draft kicked off with rounds 1-12 in this 80 minute podcast, and there are some twists and turns in this one. We have some current players off the board, some players from the 90s off the board, and one of us hasn’t taken a single lineman in their first 12 picks. Things are getting weird, and you can catch it all below.
