The Iowa football team has its next quarterback, as three-star QB Alex Padilla from Cherry Greenwood Village, CO., announced his commitment to the Hawkeyes this afternoon:

— Alex Padilla (@APadilla_8) June 14, 2018
Listed at 6-2, 195 lbs, Padilla has decent but not great size.
Projected as a pro-style QB by rivals, Padilla had offers from a handful of Ivy League schools in addition to Boise State, Oregon State, Central Michigan and Colorado State.
As a junior at Cherry Creek high school, Padilla completed 68 percent of his passes for 2,678 yards, compiling 40 touchdowns through the air and another two on the ground.
Padilla wasn’t Iowa’s first priority at the position in this class — the commitment news comes shorty after Iowa target Zach Calzada committed to Texas A&M earlier today. But that doesn’t mean the Iowa coaching staff isn’t high on the kid.
The Hawkeyes offered Padilla after watching him at one of their camps on June 11. Three days later, he’s a Hawk.
Padilla is the 10th commit in Iowa’s 2019 class.
Best of luck to Padilla on his future career at Iowa. We look forward to you lighting up the scoreboard in the near future.
