The Iowa football staff has been hard at work, hitting the recruiting trail in an attempt to lock up a few more members of the class of 2019 and begin the push to get guys on campus for visits over the summer before things pick up for the football season this fall. As that effort continues, things are really heating up for the Hawkeyes.
Only a few days after landing their first wide receiver commit in the class, Desmond Hutson of Kansas City, the Hawkeyes landed their second linebacker as Jestin Jacobs of Ohio made his commitment to Iowa today.

Jacobs is an athletic outside linebacker with a really good frame for the position. He measures in at 6’4” and 205 pounds as a senior-to-be. When watching his video, you can see he’s very good in space and does a good job sniffing out plays in run support. Iowa tends to like their linebackers to have good size and Jacobs provides that as well as solid lateral quickness and athleticism.
Both Rivals and 247 rank Jacobs as a 3-star. He chose Iowa over a slew of offers, including Duke, Georgia Tech, Indiana, Iowa State, Kentucky, Michigan State, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Northwestern, Pitt, Purdue, Rutgers and Vanderbilt.
Overall, Jacobs becomes the 8th member of the class of 2019 for the Hawkeyes, joining Ezra Miller, Tyler Endres, Logan Lee, Noah Fenske, fellow LB Jack Campbell and the aforementioned Hutson.
Iowa is expected to take three linebackers in this class. There are a couple top targets still outstanding and the pressure will be on for one of them to make a decision at the risk of losing their spot. Campbell and Jacobs make for a tremendous start to the 2019 linebacker group.
Welcome aboard Mr. Jacobs!
