After committing to the Hawkeyes just last night, Illinois three-star tight end prospect Sam LaPorta has signed with the Black and Gold:

His offer list isn’t super spectacular, as it includes Yale, Bowling Green (where he was expected to go if he didn’t choose Iowa), Eastern Michigan, Central Michigan, Northern Iowa, Illinois State, Western Illinois, Southern Illinois, and Lindenwood.
But Iowa has taken unheralded recruits and turned them into all-Americans before, and I like the size LaPorta brings to the table. LaPorta rounds out three expected tight end signees in this class, alongside Logan Lee and Josiah Miamen.
