This weekend is shaping up to probably being the most consequential of the football season, not just for Iowa, but for everyone. We got 20 of the top-25 teams kicking off this weekend, with three games being played between ranked teams. One of those contests being Iowa-Penn State.

And the action kicks off tonight, with No. 25 (!) Appalachian State taking on Georgia Southern, a 6-1 squad. No. 13 West Virginia takes on Baylor tonight as well, but something tells me App State will be a bit more exciting to watch.

There’s some other games tonight, too. Virginia Tech-Georgia Tech is on if you’re a masochist.

On Friday, we have Indiana and Minnesota, for some reason. We’ll watch it. Because we’re masochists.

Miami-Boston College should be decent. I think AJ Dillon is back. I didn’t know he was gone. And Utah-UCLA is ... football.

AND ON SATURDAY the game we’ve been waiting for kicks off promptly at 11:01 AM: Nebraska-Bethune Cookman. The Wildcats play good D they could the ‘Skers a run for their money here. Purdue-Michigan State and Wisconsin-Northwester also kick off at 11, two games that will likely be very important to Iowa’s future.

Then just wait for Iowa-Penn State to roll around. Georgia-Florida also kicks off in the afternoon if you’re into that sort of thing.

As for what I’m drinking this weekend, I’ll be at a wedding, so the answer is Whatever Is Put In Front Of Me.

Tune in tonight to watch Navy beat Notre Dame!
