NCAA Football Week 2 Game Times and TV Schedule

Week 2 of the college football season gets underway tonight. There’s a good slate of games and a whole lot of weirdness. Here’s who’s playing when, and where to watch.

I hope that buzz you got from the return of football hasn’t fully worn off at this point, because the college football Gods have given us another really good slate of games this weekend. There are some high profile matchups, some really strange ones, and a full slate of games to keep you busy late into the night on Saturday. Here’s who’s worth watching.

Thursday

You may have noticed this is coming out on Friday this week, rather than Thursday. “JP! You made us miss important college football!” you say. Not so fast, my interweb friends. This strange week of college football did indeed kick off last night. But Thursday was an incredibly light night this week for college football. How light? The only game was Idaho State at Utah State, and it wasn’t even on TV. Why? Because the NFL season kicked off last night and you don’t mess with the NFL!

Friday

Luckily, we get back into the actual college action tonight. I’m not sure why, exactly, but this is where things get a little weird. First, there’s no game on ESPN. They’re showing the US Open. So instead, you can catch Memphis at UCF on ESPNU at 5:30. At 7, #11 Oklahoma State will travel South Alabama (you read that right!) on ESPN2. I don’t think I want to know why OK State is going to USA, but it’s a thing. And it’s weird.

Also at 7pm, you can catch OMHR as they play host to Ohio on our new partner, FS1. Be sure to tune in for the slick to commercial. Also, maybe Purdue is OK at football?

And that’s it, no late games. Again, kind of weird.

Here’s the full slate for tonight.

Saturday

Saturday gets kicked off with some further weird-ness brought upon us by Hurricane Irma. Due to the impending storm, which is expected to make landfall in south Florida Saturday, #21 South Florida’s trip to UCONN has been bumped up to 9:30 from the original 11am start. I don’t fully understand the impact the hurricane in south Florida will have on East Hartford, Connecticut, but I’m told it has to do with travel arrangements for the team trying to get home.

The usual morning slot at 11 chock-full of Big Ten matchups (there are 5 in this time slot in total). Of course, your Iowa Hawkeyes are at Iowa State at 11 on ESPN2. Over on the ESPN family, Northwestern is at Duke on ESPNU. #17 Louisville is at UNC on ESPN. ABC has Cincinnati at #8 Michigan. The BTN is carrying Florida Atlantic at #9 Wisconsin. To avoid the bump up in time UCONN got, Wisconsin has already agreed to pay for lodging and provide FAU with use of their practice facility should the team be stuck in the upper midwest longer than originally planned. #MidwestNice

The afternoon slate features #1 Alabama hosting Fresno State on ESPN2. Pitt is at #4 Penn State on ABC. ESPNU will now feature Indiana at Virginia as #16 Miami’s planned trip to Arkansas State (you read that one right as well, they were supposed to head to Arkie State) is cancelled due to the aforementioned Hurricane Irma, and concern about returning home safely after the game

CBS features #23 TCU at Arkansas in the 2:30 slot. Michigan State hosts Western Michigan on BTN. That will split with Rutgers hosting Eastern Michigan

Later in the afternoon, Nebraska is at Oregon at 3:30 CT on FOX

The evening slate kicks off at 6pm CT on ESPN with #13 Auburn at #3 Clemson. On ESPN2 you have South Carolina at Mizzou.

The primetime matchup on ABC kicks off early this week as there is a Big Ten team involved (note this for future reference as the ABC time slot for week 1 of Iowa’s Big Ten slate is also 6:30 - hmmmm). #2 Ohio State hosts #5 Oklahoma at 6:30 CT. This should be a great one so settle in.

NBC also has an early primetime matchup kicking off at 6:30 as #24 Notre Dame hosts #15 Georgia.

At 7, you can watch Illinois as a 7 point underdog at home to Western Kentucky on BTN. We really need a relegation system in college football.

At 7:30, FOX has a showdown between #14 Stanford and #6 USC. That one is in L.A.

If you’re a fan of #Pac12AfterDark, you’re in for an exhausting treat this week as Minnesota travels to Oregon State for a 9pm matchup on FS1. #FleckAfterDark

Even better, the ESPN family of networks has a full late game slate for you. Utah is at BYU at 9:15 on ESPN2. At 9:30, you can catch Boise State at #20 Washington State on ESPN or Houston at Arizona on ESPNU.

Here’s a look at the full slate of games tomorrow. All times listed below are EASTERN because it’s hate week and we want to get your blood boiling early for Saturday. You’re welcome.

And that’s that. As far as what I’m drinking, you should all know by now in honor of #HateWeek #FactWeek I’m actually drinkin’ Natty Light. Because I can. Deal with it.

Which is more gross, Natural Light or ISU Football? Yes.
