Iowa Football Recruiting: Class of 2018 Commitment Week 5 Performance Recap

Things might have been a little ugly for the Hawkeyes on Saturday, but the commits in the class of 2018 looked pretty great on Friday.

Henry Geil

Pos: RB

Hometown: Green Bay, Wisconsin

Ht: 6’

Wt: 211 lbs

Things may have looked a little ugly for the Hawkeyes on Saturday, but they sure didn’t look ugly for Henry Geil or the Preble Hornets on Friday. Geil led Preble to a civtory with 4 rushing touchdowns. In the first half. He tacked on another in the second half as the Hornets rolled to a 49-7 win over Sheboygan South Friday. Geil’s 5 TDs came on 20 carries for 143 yards (7.1 YPC).

On the season, Geil now has 795 yards and 10 touchdowns on 128 carries for an average of 6.2 YPC. With the win, Preble moved to 4-1. They’ll be at Sheboygan North on Friday.

Jack Plumb

Pos: TE/OT

Hometown: Green Bay, Wisconsin

Ht: 6’8”

Wt: 245 lbs

Big TE/OL Jack Plumb was back to his blocking role last week as he didn’t record a catch on the week. His Bay Port team moved to 5-0 wit a 48-27 win over Pulaski 48-27. They look to move to 6-0 with a game at Notre Dame Academy this Friday.

Tyrone Tracy

Pos: ATH

Hometown: Indianapolis, Indiana

Ht: 6’

Wt: 185 lbs

Indianapolis RB/WR Tyrone Tracy continued to show his versatility Friday as his Decatur Central Hawks beat up on Mooresvill with a 63-7 victory. Tracy finished with 109 rushing yards on only 8 carries (13.6 YPC) with a TD. He added another TD and 23 receiving yards on 2 catches (11.5 YPC).

Here’s a look at the highlights from Friday:

On the year, Tracy now has 620 rushing yards on 61 carries for an average of 10.2 yards per carry (!!!) and 5 TDs on the ground. He also has 23 catches for 442 receiving yards (19.2 yards per reception) and 6 more touchdowns. Decatur Central moved to 4-1 with the win. They will take on Plainfield this Friday.

DJ Johnson

Pos: DB

Hometown: Indianapolis, IN

Ht: 6’

Wt: 170 lbs

DJ Johnson did his part Friday on the defensive side of the ball, finishing with 7 tackles, an interception and a fumble recovery. But it wasn’t enough as North Central lost to Center Grove 24-7. Here are his highlights from the matchup:

On the season, Johnson has 19 tackles, 2 interceptions, and 3 pass break-ups. The loss drops North Central to 3-2 on the year. They will be at Carmel Friday.

Julius Brents

Pos: DB

Hometown: Indianapolis, IN

Ht: 6’2

Wt: 180 lbs

Brents returned from his knee injury for his first game of the season Friday night. He had a relatively quiet night in his return to action, accumulating no stats as his Warren Central team lost to Ben Davis 45-13. Brents was involved on a Warren Central interception, deflecting a pass up into the air. You can see the play in the highlights around the 4:45 mark below. Brents wears #8 for WC in white.

Warren Central is now 2-3 on the season and will take on Pike in a home conference game this Friday.

Anthony Torres

Pos: TE

Hometown: Mishawaka, Indiana

Ht: 6’6”

Wt: 235 lbs

TE commit Anthony Torres remained sidelined with an injury last week. His Mishawaka Penn team got a win over South Bend Adams to improve to 4-1 on the season. They will be at South Bend St. Joseph this Friday.

Terry Roberts

Pos: DB

Hometown: Erie, PA

Ht: 5’10”

Wt: 169 lbs

After not being tested last week, DB commit Terry Roberts bounced back with an interception this week. He also added 130 receiving yards and 2 touchdowns on 3 catches (43.3 yards per catch!!) on offense as Cathedral Prep rolled to a 62-28 win over Benedictine Friday.

On the season, Roberts now has 239 receiving yards and 3 TDs on 8 catches for an average of 29.9 yards per reception. On the defensive side of the ball, Roberts now has 4 tackles and 2 interception, as well as a pass break-up. The win Friday moves Cathedral Prep to 4-0 on the year. They will play host to General McLane this Friday.

Samson Evans

Pos: ATH

Hometown: Crystal Lake, IL

Ht: 6’1”

Wt: 190 lbs

Samson Evans, who is projected to be a WR at Iowa but plays QB for his Prairie Ridge high school team, had another fantastic outing last week. He finished with 222 rushing yards and 5 touchdowns on only 11 carries (20.2 YPC) as Prairie Ridge took down Crystal Lake South 56-14. Evans also added a 17-yard TD pass in the effort.

On the year, Evans now has 703 yards rushing and 12 TDs on 80 carries for an average of 8.9 yards per carry. The win moves Prairie Ridge to 4-0 on the season. They take on Bartlett this Friday.

Dillon Doyle

Pos: LB

Hometown: Iowa City, IA

Ht: 6’3”

Wt: 215 lbs

In the battle for the boot against cross town rival Iowa City City High, Dillon Doyle finished with 2 catches for 18 yards and a touchdown as Iowa City West stomped City High 52-6. Here’s a look at the TD catch:

On the season, Doyle has 20 tackles and 2 TFL to go with 135 receiving yards and 2 TDs on 7 catches (19.3 YPC). West High moved to 4-0 with the W. They will take on Cedar Rapids Prairie Friday.
