Iowa’s recruiting class of one for the 2018 cycle doubled Saturday afternoon with the announcement of C.J. Fredrick’s commitment to the Hawkeyes.

Fredrick is a 6-4 shooting guard out of Alexandria, KY. He’s a two-star prospect and the No. 4 overall rated player out of the state.
His low-star rating doesn’t the tell the whole story though as he also held offers from Xavier and Indiana and drew interest from Butler.
His commit is a little problematic for Iowa as the Hawkeyes don’t have any scholarships left to give at this time. Joe Wieskamp, the other member of the class is taking the lone scholarship that opens up after Dom Uhl graduates this season.
Connor McCaffery is also walking on this season. If the two were to ever both get on scholarship, then two players would have to leave the program or lose their scholarships.
In any case, this is an indication of the upwards arrow for Iowa basketball. If players are willing to come to Iowa City without the promise of a scholarship, well then I’m #AllIn.
Welcome aboard, Mr. Fredrick.
