You’re Invited to The Pants Party!

Greetings! We here at Black Heart Gold Pants would like to cordially invite you to The Pants Party, our new podcast about anything and everything related to Iowa athletics (and more).

Ever since Ben and I took over this here corner of the internet just over a year ago, we occasionally have seen tweets or comments directed at us to start a podcast up. For the most part, we deflected the suggestions because neither of us had any real experience producing a podcast and we thought it would be a whole lot of work to do ourselves.

Fast forward a year, and the demand for us to put one out has actually grown quite a bit. Luckily for us, our very own Jerry Scherwin has experience putting out his own podcast and said it would be pretty easy for us to do. We figured that entering football season, this would be the best chance we’d get to start up our very own pod for you, our gracious readers. Allow us to introduce The Pants Party.

What can you expect from The Pants Party? Well, we’re obviously going to talk about everything related to Iowa sports and college athletics as a whole, which is a given. Maybe if it’s a slow news cycle, we’ll veer off-topic a bit and talk about something that doesn’t pertain to either (and you can yell at us to stick to sports, a suggestion we’ll maybe consider but likely decline). Truth be told, we don’t really know what format the show will take each week at this particular moment. We’ll likely add segments, bring on some guests, and vary the length. Your regular hosts will probably include Jerry and myself, but you’re definitely going to hear from other contributors at BHGP as well.

For now, the only way that you can consume The Pants Party is via SoundCloud. We’re working on fixing that, though - the plan is to make it available on iTunes for you Apple people and Google Play for the rest of you to take with you on the go. If there’s a format other than those that y’all request, we can work on that too. You just have to let us know!

Feel free to share your suggestions with us to help us grow and make the best content possible for you. If there’s anything you ever want to hear, please please please let us know. We’re here to entertain y’all, and once we get in a groove and become more polished podcasters, we hope that we can do just that, but you can help us make sure we do it by giving us some constructive criticism. Jerry’s done this before, but most of the rest of us don’t have a lot of experience, so there will be a bit of a learning curve.
