Henry Geil

Pos: RB

Hometown: Green Bay, Wisconsin

Ht: 6’

Wt: 211 lbs

Following up on his amazing week one performance that saw him rack up 261 yards on 33 carries, RB Henry Geil tallied 144 yards on 27 carries Thursday night. Geil also led the Hornets in receiver with his lone grab going for 29 yards.

Among the highlights from the 31-26 victory of Manitowoc was this nice 52-yard touchdown run by Geil putting Preble up 28-20. That proved to be all the Hornets needed to get the victory.

On the season, Geil now has 358 yards on 60 carries (5.97 yards per carry) with 3 TDs and two receptions for 34 yards. Preble will now face off with Southwest (Green Bay) this Thursday.

As a reminder, you can stream all of Geil’s games this season live on Meredix here.

Jack Plumb

Pos: TE/OT

Hometown: Green Bay, Wisconsin

Ht: 6’8”

Wt: 245 lbs

Plumb showed off his pass-catching abilities in week 1, securing his one grab in the end zone for a TD. In week 2, it was time to show off those blocking skills that led the Hawkeye staff to recruit him as an offensive tackle. Here’s a peek:

Plumb didnt record any stats in this one, and that won’t be uncommon throughout the season as his role is primarily a blocker. Regardless, his Bay Port team rolled to a 62-6 victory over Sheboygan South last Thursday to move to 2-0 on the season. This Thursday, Bay Port will take on the Manitowoc Lincoln squad that Geil’s Preble High just beat.

Tyrone Tracy

Pos: ATH

Hometown: Indianapolis, Indiana

Ht: 6’

Wt: 185 lbs

Decatur Central athlete Tyrone Tracy had perhaps the performance of the week for current Iowa commits. He went over 300 total yards with a hat-trick. Tracy hauled in 6 catches for 145 and a pair of receiving TDs. He also added 13 carries for 162 rushing yards and another TD on the ground en route to a big time Decatur Central victory over Perry Meridian 41-9.

On the season, Tracy now has 15 catches for 250 yards and two receiving TDs and 22 carries for 221 yards a rushing TD.

Tyrone’s cousin and fellow Iowa commit (in the class of 2019) Larry Tracy recorded six tackles, a pair of pass breakups and an interception for Decatur Central. He also returned a punt for a touchdown in the win. This season, the younger Tracy now has 14 tackles, 3 PBUs and 1 INT.

Decatur Central is now 1-1 on the year. They’ll take on Whiteland this Friday.

Anthony Torres

Pos: TE

Hometown: Mishawaka, Indiana

Ht: 6’6”

Wt: 235 lbs

As we noted last week, Torres is battling an undisclosed injury and remains sidelined. Despite being without their big tight end, Penn High got the victory over Merrillville 7-0 to improve to 1-1 on the season. Iowa LB target Paul Moala had an interception in the effort.

DJ Johnson

Pos: DB

Hometown: Indianapolis, IN

Ht: 6’

Wt: 170 lbs

The most recent addition the Hawkeyes’ class of 2018, DJ Johnson, returned to action Friday with his North Central (Indianapolis) team looking to improve on their 1-0 start to the season. Johnson did his part, recording seven tackles, two pass breakups and an interception (pictured) as North Central took down Hamilton Southeast 37-14.

Through the first two games, Johnson has tallied 11 tackles and one interception for North Central, who moved to 2-0. They’ll square off with Warren Central this week in what should be a really great matchup. Warren Central is the home of top Hawkeye DB target Julius Brents, who is rumored to be close with Johnson. They also have one of the top wide receivers in the 2019 class in David Bell, who Iowa is also targeting. Johnson will have his hands full next week.

Terry Roberts

Pos: DB

Hometown: Erie, PA

Ht: 5’10”

Wt: 169 lbs

As football season got underway in the state of Pennsylvania, DB commit Terry Roberts wasted no time showing he’s ready to make the most of his senior season. Roberts contributed in all facets of the game, returning an interception 60 yards for a touchdown on the defensive side of the ball. He also had a 56 yard kickoff return following the only score his Erie Cathedral Prep squad would surrender. On offense, Roberts had one grab for 26 yards.

With the 40-6 victory over Central Catholic, Cathedral Prep starts the season 1-0. They’ll face off with Erie High this Friday.

Samson Evans

Pos: ATH

Hometown: Crystal Lake, IL

Ht: 6’1”

Wt: 190 lbs

In the state of Illinois, Iowa commits Samson Evans and Jeff Jenkins got their senior years underway as their defending state champion Prairie Ridge team took on Cary-Grove Friday night. In what was a physical slug-fest, Evans managed 117 rushing yards and the game-winning touchdown on 25 carries out of the QB spot. He also threw four passes, completing one for eight yards.

Prairie Ridge got the win 7-6 to start the season 1-0. This week they’ll be at Huntley High School. You can live stream that game here (may require subscription).

Dillon Doyle

Pos: LB

Hometown: Iowa City, IA

Ht: 6’3”

Wt: 215 lbs

Locally, LB Dillon Doyle and the #3 ranked Iowa City West Trojans kicked off their season with a trip to #1 Southeast Polk. Doyle had 6 tackles and a TFL on the defensive side of the ball. He also hauled in two catches for 70 yards as West High took down top-ranked Southeast Polk 37-27 on Friday.

Southeast Polk has a class of 2020 RB to keep an eye on. Gavin Williams (#21) already boasts an ISU offer and interest from the Hawkeyes.

West High will face off with Muscatine this Friday.
