Amid a newsworthy day out of the football complex, the Des Moines Register reported Peter Jok has signed a partially guaranteed deal with the Phoenix Suns for training camp. According to the Register, Jok had three other options.
After a rocky Summer League for the New Orleans Pelicans, it’s nice to see Jok find a landing spot. NBA teams are able to have 20 players through training camp but can only have 15 players plus another two on “two-way” deals between an NBA team and affiliate G-League team once the season starts.
According to Bobby Marks, ESPN’s cap/roster guru, the Suns only have 16 players, with 13 under guaranteed contracts for the upcoming season. In addition to the two open roster spots, the Suns have not allocated either one of their two-way contracts. With only 4 guards - Eric Bledsoe, Devin Booker, Brandon Knight, and Tyler Ulis - on their roster, Jok might have a path to a roster spot.
We wish Pete the best of luck as he chases the NBA.
