Peyton Mansell has signed his National Letter of Intent and he will officially be spending his Saturdays in Kinnick Stadium starting in 2017! Mansell has been committed since last summer, and even stayed committed to the Hawks despite #Texodus and the departure of Greg Davis as OC. Gotta love it.
Mansell absolutely put Texas defenses in the shredder this past season, accounting for over 3,600 yards of total offense and 48 touchdowns (33 passing, 15 rushing). While it’s not clear how well he’ll adjust to an offense that operates like Iowa’s does, there’s a whole ton to like about a guy who can keep defenses on their toes with his running ability. He didn’t have a ton of great offers (NDSU or SDSU were probably his best), but he was offered by four Ivy League schools which is nothing to scoff at. Mansell is super smart, which is what you want from your field general.
