It took a late pin from Sam Stoll, but Iowa was able to comeback against Illinois to remain perfect in dual meets this season.
The fall:
WOW! You will not see a better finish!

No.7 @Hawks_Wrestling NEEDED a fall and got one from Stoll!

Talk about clutch.
“I am out there to do my job,” Stoll said to HawkeyeSports. “I know that if I go out there and wrestle hard for seven minutes I can pin a lot of guys. My goal is to pin every guy I wrestle. No one wants to wrestle at a hard, high pace, and if I go out there and take care of what I need to do, everything will fall into place.”
The Hawkeyes dropped their first three bouts of the dual — all decisions — before Brandon Sorensen and Michael Kemerer finally got the ship back in the right direction.
The pair won their matches with 4-1 decisions.
Isaiah Martinez then had little issue with Kaleb Young, winning via 23-8 tech fall. One of my friends at the dual texted me and told me Young had some nice shots, for what it’s worth.
The Illini and Hawkeyes split the next two matches before Cash Wilcke and Stoll ended the match with wins.
The Takeaway?
Well, still no Alex Marinelli which is something I think we all would like to see. Justin Stickley is still starting at 125, which lends some credence to the idea Spencer Lee might just redshirt this season.
Then again, we’re not even to the Midlands yet, so it’s probably a bit early to be making any assumptions.
Sam Stoll seems healthy which is a massive plus for the Hawkeyes. Oh, and Terry ended up in the stands. That was pretty good stuff.
