IOWA TO PINSTRIPE BOWL

Hawks verses Yankees... errr, Boston College.

NCAA Football: Pinstripe Bowl-Northwestern vs Pittsburgh
Because who doesn’t want to play football in a baseball stadium.

According to Brett McMurphy who (doesn’t) work for ESPN, Iowa is headed to the New Era Pinstripe Bowl against Boston College.

The game will be played on Wednesday, Dec. 27 at 4:15 Central in Yankee Stadium and will be televised by ESPN. Northwestern won this game last year.

Oh, and I guess it’s actually official too.

*yawn*

This brings together two of the worst offenses in the FBS ranks and two teams wholly unfamiliar with each other — BC and Iowa have never played. There is a little bit of familiarity though — the Eagles’ defensive coordinator is former Iowa linebacker coach Jim Reid.

That’s probably not a good thing.

I’m sure this bowl will draw a few of the diehard Iowa fans but a trip to New York City two days after Christmas can’t be all that appealing to most. Over the next few weeks I’m sure you’ll find this game on the bottom of most “most intriguing bowls” lists, but hey at least we’re not sitting at home.

The payout of this game is $2 million. Should be a nice, warm day!
