The Iowa Hawkeyes come off a 20-point victory against William Jewell College which saw Isaiah Moss tweak an ankle and Connor McCaffery play extended minutes as a backup in his stead. His availability for all of 2017-18 was confirmed early this week.
Belmont Abbey doesn’t present the same challenges as the Cardinals last week. They’re constituted more traditionally with 4 guards, a couple swingmen, 5 forwards, and 2 centers. Some things I’ll be looking for:
- Is Isaiah Moss 100%, and does he play? Who fills in for him if he isn’t able to go as expected? (i.e.: does Connor get 18 minutes like Friday?)
- Does Nicholas Baer retain his starting spot? He didn’t have the same energy as a starter but it wasn’t completely necessary. Fran McCaffery insinuated Jack Nunge might be the guy who starts if it isn’t Baer.
- What do minutes look like for the end-of-rotation guys? Maishe Dailey and Dom Uhl had 9 minutes each after being the last guys off the bench. Fran said he’d play 13 guys if he had a conference game but when would these players see the floor?
